Does the average DIY'er really need a Plunge Saw?
Can you tell me size of this pieces you cutted.
I am a 70 year old female. Yes to this. Yes I have mixed concrete before. Yes I am British ❤
The difference in distance between the top and bottom hinges ( I was taught 6” down 9” up) is purely for perspective. If you set them at those measurements when you stand back, because your eyes are 5’ of the floor the hinges look even. If there’s a middle hinge it should go between the top and bottom hinges, not the middle of the door. If you ever walk down a corridor towards a door with big obvious stainless or brass hinges that are set at even distances (as many younger chippies are doing now) it looks so wrong.
Lovely addition to the video collection Stuart. That was a great watch!
I genuinely find Stuart inspirational. Cool DIY stuff is why I'm here but his passion for making these videos is so apparent and very charming. Fair play to you Stuart!
nice video ,thx . One question . U put sand every year in Lawn or how often ?
Great installation. For added security I'd install a heavy duty maglock
I've got a Latham door on an outbuilding used for tool storage, pretty decent and easy enough to fit. Really expensive but I think worth it...a friend said it made it look like a crack den which made me chuckle 😆
Looks almost like a profesinal job Only teasing door looks great. Good job
hey , a pro tip for u flip the Tonge of door anti pick
You could pin that little board through the back while the glue dries. And you could always put an X of them diagonal across the back instead of a single one. That'll also reduce racking.
If you're going to use glue, why not glue the dowels in too?
Very VERY good video!
6:30 - You can actually gain around 5 cm simply by _lifting_ the piece you're cutting.
Brilliant, good job. What vacuum did you use once you completed installation?
steel doors are the way to go. not many people realize anyone can enter their home with a couple swings of ax . just chop around the lock and your in.
Single brick surely ? Not Half Brick
The old door looked pretty good
After you removed the old frame and was cleaning up, I was expecting the brush head to fall off, lol. Good video, cheers!
good lookin door STEWert PROPER DIY as usual BILL
lathams are quality doors
Thank you. What glue do you use and what did you say at 8:39? I couldn't understand what you said. Thanks, again! I subscribed.
Watched the video, went to the DIY shop, bought 300 litres of Compost & this weekend I'm hoping I can finally solve & also fix with a garden rake why I have & no longer have the crappest lawn in the Grove. 👍
Great video but a lil tip for you, no neeed to use the metal tines on ur allet ti scarify use the other smaller machine with blades does better job. Also mow the lawn reallly short
All that steel with all those 19 lock mechanisms and all you have to do is pick the lock!!
Cant believe you went to all that trouble just to keep your wife out of your workshop!
Great video and door. I'm assuming that the euro-cylinder lock has bump and snap resistance built in? It looks like it is *** rated, but hard to tell. Otherwise, your feeling of security could be misplaced.
Try that in clay soil
Putting in a hurricane door on my storm shelter. so intrested in your ideas.
Use the sodium hypochlorite with care when treating colorful paving stones. Higher concentrations of the sh solution will tend to fade the colors much more quickly than a lower concentration.
The door, like any other is only as secure as its weakest link. What stops the thieves simply snapping off the Eurolock as they are prone to do?
Reciprocating Saw instead of a bread knife.
Can you make your intro music a bit longer like how it used to be. I like to nod along to it. 😂
Great tips. Another use of the camera would be to search for thermal bridges, mostly in older buildings. This is where a structural element is bare inside and outside and conducts heat from higher temps to lower, or better put, the heat leaks outs.
I’ve just had our garage up and over door replaced with two hinged steel doors from Lathams. I think they look great and are very well made. My wife is not so sure but I think they’re a work of art! 😊
Great door. That brickwork will fail before the door does. Next step, interior hardening to secure against ram-raids.
Great video. You make it look so easy. Watched your link and see they also do front doors, which makes more sense than a UPVC door and probably cheaper 👍
Throughly mix postcrete in a tub then poor into post hole simple. Works EVERY time for me, and I've done literally hundreds
Thanks for all your hard work and videos! I'm a member of Men in sheds Charity in Hornsea, I love your creations, they definitely helped me with my woodworking.
Perfect installation 👍🏻
Only as good as the euro cylinder 👍
Fab job
cracking job
The caliper is not black. Does it lack carbon? Don´t buy it then, get a black caliper for <3€.
Stuart, you make everything interesting! I have enjoyed all of your videos on both channels. But you had me from the first broken broom handle!
Removing old silicon, use a hot air gun to soften it and break the bond, obviously only if the surfaces can take it.
Fantastic looking door. Well installed matey.
Next video: Review of the Stihl TS410 14" disk cutter 😆
We had DIY steel doors like that at our sailing club. They slowed down the thieves who pinched our engines by about 5 minutes as they ripped the locks apart. We had some thicker steel ones professionally fitted with better locks but the same thing happened. Our next doors were so much stronger that they knocked down part of the brick wall. 😐
Great video and great install, Stuart! Up to your usual high-standards of both workmanship and production quality. No lock is impregnable. But if you are looking for the best protection available in a keyed Euro cylinder lock, choose one with a 3* Kitemark rating. These are highly resistant to picking, "bumping", drilling, snapping, etc. These can be ordered from reputable suppliers to retrofit a very wide range of sizes. See Stuart's excellent Proper DIY post on this subject: ruclips.net/video/pHtQf7cFuXM/видео.htmlsi=lR-TX2DtQmZn5HbT The lock, and door, is itself just a part of a "layered" security protocol that includes things like lighting, motion sensors, alarms, and video surveillance. And, ultimately, appropriate insurance coverage. Sadly we live in a world where tool-theft is more common than we would like.
